Drone down
Drone down is inspired by Chess, Rock 'em sock 'em, GO and Battleship.
The game could be played on a real table with real pieces (or candy).
It is a Three-dimensional abstract game of wits. Can you defeat as many hostile drones as possible while traversing dangerous terrain?
For now you can combat an AI or another player, or watch two AIs battle it out.
Play turn-based or simultaneous (hidden), with or without realistic gravity
Have fun and feel free to give some feedback!
Rules of the Game
-
You start by default with 15 "drones." Half of the drones are assault drones,
and the other half are shield drones. -
You place your drones in the field in a formation you deem best. Your opponent does the same.
When all players are ready, the drones of both parties collide. -
If the opponent has no shield drones left or has one or fewer drones alive after the confrontation, you win.
In case both have no shield drones left or both have fewer than two drones alive, the match is a draw. -
If the round ends with both sides having at least one shield drone alive and a total of min. two drones alive,
a new round begins with the surviving drones. Each player can place their surviving drones as in the first round,
but note that the number of shield drones is the total number of surviving drones divided by two.
The round process repeats until one wins (or there is a draw).
What is strong against whom?
-
Shield drones can't be destroyed by an assault drone.
Shield drones from both parties that collide are defeated. -
An assault drone can't survive a confrontation with another assault drone
or a bump from a shield drone (the assault drone wants to enter hostile territory).
Important additive rule(s)
-
You must place a drone "near" another one of your drones.
That can be left, right, front, back or above. -
There is no height limit to place the drones,
but 5 drones max. horizontal can be placed (two left and two right from the "startdrone"). - You place firstly your assault drones and afterwards your shield drones.
- In turn-based mode you are not allowed to undo a move.
- In the direct variant, you hide your pieces until both parties are ready. A gamble factor is in play.
